Tony Wagner and Ted Dintersmith have many good points regarding our education system in the US. Essentially, a system built on a 19 century model with 20th century skill sets that no longer fits what our kids or our country needs in a 21st century world. However, every paragraph and most sentences use extremely emotional language and a lot of hyperbole to evoke a reaction from the reader. We already have so much "hype" in the world that this book feels like more. It exhausts the emotions which numbs the brain. Ironic, since one of their frequent claims is the education system at all levels fails to develop critical thinkers. I many ways I love the intent of the book. I find the points relevant. However, the constant hyperbole is exhausting. (BTW, the authors constantly refer to charts in the accompanying pdf file. I do not see the pdf file or the charts.) A good read. Take this in small doses. The authors spend far too long explaining why education needs to change and not enough time with specific examples and practical ideas.
